Cheezy Bean Soup

2 to 3 cups dried beans (white, pinto, red, mix and match)
1 onion, finely chopped
1 (15 1/2 oz.) can chili beans
1 small can tomato sauce
4 oz. cream cheese
1/2 jar Cheez Whiz
ham, chopped (as desired)
salt to taste

Directions: Soak beans in water overnight. In the morning, drain, add new water and soak until noon. Drain again. Soak in new water until evening. Drain again. (This helps remove gas-causing properties.) Cover beans in crockpot with hot water. Add onion and chili beans. Cook overnight on low setting and into the next day until beans are done and soft. Mash beans well with potato masher. Add tomato sauce, cream cheese, Cheez Whiz, and ham. Salt as desired. Serve with crackers.

Notes: This recipe is very versatile and good for experimentation.
